Factors That May Affect Your Healthy Weight
With every decade our body changes its behavior on varies health aspects. It is more difficult to go up the stairs, our skin is not as smooth as before, the vision is not that sharp, and we find it more and more difficult to fit in our clothes!
Our body weight is one of the most bothering issues. From our look to severe health problems there is always a good reason to try finding a good
weight loss solution.
As we grow older
weight loss becomes more difficult. Our busy life impaired by unhealthy eating habits and lack of exercising are among the common causes but there are other factors we have to consider.
The very first factor we have to take into account is HEREDITY. If your family has
body weight issues chances are you will have them too.
Some people can eat anything they want and still be slim; others barely touch the food and gain weight quick. Our METABOLISM plays an important role in our
weight loss challenge. That is a given. But as we get older our metabolism graduate slows down. Our muscle mass decreases, our calorie needs fall but we keep eating the same foods in the same quantities so our calories intake is the same!
Eating more calories combined with little or no activity and slower metabolism leads to fat deposits.
PREGNANCY will cause a body weight gain anywhere between 20 to 40 lbs. After giving birth, many women struggle getting back to the weight they had before pregnancy: the belly fat is difficult to get rid of even with exercising and diet.
Most women gain weight as they grow older. They gain easily one pound a year until reaching the menopause and gain even more during the menopause due to decreasing estrogen levels. Gaining weight during menopause can be avoided but require extra efforts, specifically by limiting the daily calories intake to 1,500 - 1,600. In this case HORMONES are the cause! Men have the same issue when the testosterone levels fall. Gaining weight and loosing muscle mass it is only a natural result of hormone level decline. Men can avoid this consequence by exercising more.
There is no optimum weight we can target. The healthy weight is different from person to person. When you are happy with the way you look, when you feel great you found yours.
Often we fail to get there by trying too hard. Unrealistic goals impossible to meet lead to disappointment and failure. The rush to lose lots of weight in a very short time may be too much for your body.
Another frequent pitfall is the weight loss and weight gain cycle. Unless you go back to an extremely unhealthy body weight is OK for your body to vary in a weight range where you are comfortable and you feel good. If your body weight exceeds significantly a reasonable weight then seeing a doctor is a must.
It is always a good idea to keep yourself active, to increase your endurance to effort to build your muscles and reduce your calories and fat intake.
